Jennifer Ray

Paintings that Capture Moments of Light and Reflection

Jennifer began painting in watercolor and acrylic before being introduced to pastels, a medium that immediately caught her interest. Because pastels require working in layers of luminous color, they provide endless challenges and opportunities for experimentation.

"The first step, underpainting, reminds me of why I loved painting with watercolors. Next comes layering colors to create special effects, from subtly blended tones to unique textures. Depending on your paper, pastels, and technique, you can achieve a wide variety of results."

Jennifer has studied pastels in classes and intensive workshops with renowned pastel artists from the U.S. and Great Britain. A resident of the North Shore in Massachusetts, her art strives to capture that special experience in nature, when light creates a moment of simple wonder.
